Which should you plan first?
Direct answer: If Hajj is obligatory for you this cycle and you are physically and financially able, plan Hajj through Nusuk — do not delay it because an Umrah sale looks cheaper. If Hajj is not feasible, a well-specified Umrah is a separate journey, not a consolation Hajj.
Ability is not only a bank balance. It includes walking, heat, who cares for children or elderly relatives in the UK, and whether a shifting Hajj package would break the group. Those questions are personal and scholarly as well as commercial. We can price hotels. We cannot tell you that you are “able” in the fiqh sense.
Where people get mis-sold
The dangerous sentence is “it is basically the same, Hajj is just longer”. Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah are not extra Umrah days. The dangerous commercial sentence is a Hajj price that never mentions Nusuk. Read booking safety.
The opposite mistake is skipping Umrah forever because Hajj feels financially impossible this year. Umrah has its own merit. Just do not pretend it discharges Hajj.
Cost is not a conversion chart
A keen February Umrah for two adults in a further hotel can look like a rounding error next to a non-shifting Hajj twin. That does not mean you should take the Umrah budget and “put it towards Hajj” without opening Nusuk and a Hajj quote grid. Different markets, different scarcity.
